South San Diego County
The South San Diego County region represents the southwest corner of not just the county, but the nation. The area stretches from San Diego Bay and the Pacific out toward the open space of eastern San Diego. Mexican influences shine through in local traditions and authentic cuisine.
Imperial Beach boasts nearly four miles of shoreline complete with a pier, plus a state park further south toward the boarder. Sprawling Chula Vista includes SeaWorld Aquatica and the Sleep Train Ampitheatre concert venue. Paradise Hills and the more rural Bonita are mostly residential; the latter includes Sweetwater Reservoir, a great place to go hiking, fishing or camping. National City has the Westfield Plaza Bonita mall and a dash of Filipino cultural flair. Otay Mesa and San Ysidro, farthest south, each contain a border crossing so residents can easily experience the rich culture of Mexico.
