One common mistake homebuyers make is taking too long to start working with an agent.
The services of a buyer’s agent are basically free, so it’s critical for people looking to purchase their next home to partner with a professional as soon as possible.
In real estate, agents typically represent buyers and sellers. Some agents, usually those who are highly skilled, will specialize in one or the other.

Buyers may sometimes hesitate to speak or commit to an agent for fear that they’ll be expected to pay a fee. But, actually, it’s the seller’s agent who typically pays the fee of the buyer’s agent.
So, there may be some rare exceptions, but buyers should know that they won’t typically be the ones to pay their agent. 99% of the time, homebuyers don’t have to pay their agent any fee at all. I think if more buyers knew this, they might partner with an agent earlier in the process.
