What’s Cool About UCSD
Students who live off-campus tend to favor the relatively cheap condos and apartments of La Jolla Village to the south. University City to the east is another popular choice. Both retain a vibrant, youthful atmosphere due to their proximity to the university. By Gary Kent
One aspect that makes UCSD unique is its division into six different undergraduate colleges: Revelle, Muir, Marshall, Warren, Roosevelt, and Sixth. While they share the same campus, each has its own housing and a unique academic focus—from the history and literature of Revelle to the art and technology of Sixth.
UCSD also has several affiliated schools and graduate programs, including the Preuss School, a prestigious charter high school perfect for aspiring UCSD students. Here are just some of the other programs:
- Jacobs School of Engineering
- Rady School of Management
- San Diego Supercomputer Center
- Scaggs School of Pharmacy
- Scripps Institution of Oceanography
- UCSD School of Medicine
On campus, Price Center is the most prominent spot to dine and shop for essentials. With well over a dozen restaurants in the food court, plus UCSD Bookstore and the well-stocked Sunshine Market, students always have the essentials at their fingertips.
Two adjacent shopping centers in La Jolla Village just to the south offer a wide selection of additional shopping and dining. UTC Mall to the east and the Village to the southwest are more upscale options for those willing to travel further.
