What’s Cool About the Village
Village locals who need a place to relax can the visit grassy haven at Scripps Park or one of the area’s small stretches of sandy beach. They can also hit the links at the La Jolla Country Club, watch the seals at the Children’s Pool and Seal Rock, or go snorkeling, kayaking and tide pool exploring at the famous La Jolla Cove. The area has an overwhelming array of excellent restaurants. An ambitious foodie could try The Cottage for breakfast, grab a gourmet cookie from The Cravory at the La Jolla Farmer’s Market, hit up Whisknladle for lunch, and end the day with an elegant dinner at George’s California Modern. Finally, venues like the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library and the Museum of Contemporary Art make this community an active cultural center.
The Village has several excellent schools within its borders, plus La Jolla High and Muirlands Middle close by to the south in Beach Barber and Muirlands. Home lots are small since space is at a premium, but some boast stunning ocean vistas and all are within walking distance of the commercial district. All in all, the Village is a perfect choice for those who desire a life of excitement by the sea. By Gary Kent
