I’ve seen some interesting things happen during my career in real estate, and today I want to tell you one story. A while back I was attempting to sell a home, and I gave a prospective seller a specific price. This price was right at market value, but another agent gave this person a much higher price. Unfortunately, sometimes agents will say they can sell a home for much more than they actually can. They just want the listing.
However, that’s another story.
What happened with this particular home is that I lost the listing, but I did run into the seller a few weeks after they sold the home. I asked how they had managed to sell for such a good price, and the seller told me something interesting.
He said that when the prospective buyers showed up, he told them that his backyard was so huge that they could practically walk around nu
de without being seen.
The buyers laughed and told them that they were actually nudists, and for this reason specifically, they wanted the home. They ended up paying a lot for the home, and although it was above market price, this just goes to show that only the buyer of the home will determine its value.
I just thought that was an interesting tidbit that I’d share with you.
